On Wednesday of this week our Tanzania Team departs for Africa! This short-term team will be providing ministry support to the Nyamwezi alongside COD missionaries Andy and Margaret Andersen.

I hope you’ll be encouraged as I am after reading reflections from Team Leader Kyleen Hughes on ways the Lord is already at work before the team even steps on the plane!

I invite you to join me in praying for this team, and to continue to pray together our missions Breakthrough Prayer: Father, use us to build a reproducing church among an unreached people – the Nyamwezi – by 2030.
With great joy,

David Schaller
Associate/Missions Pastor

Hello Friends,

I wanted to take a quick minute and share with you some cool and unexpected opportunities. As Church of the Open Door prepares to send out our first team to meet the Nyamwezi, it is so encouraging to see the Lord already using the team!

Along with experiencing their own personal growth and reliance upon Him, He is already providing new relationships with fellow believers across the nations.

As we prepare to head out to Tanzania, the Lord has blessed us with the opportunity to help several ministries already on the ground in Tanzania who live to share the Word of God.

  •  We have the privilege to be bringing audio Bibles loaded with God’s Word in Swahili to a national pastor! This pastor has for many years served on the islands of Kahunda with our own COD missionary, Andy Andersen!
  • We have been in contact with a local Christian radio station in Tabora through team member Lee Ann Jackson (she works for a Christian advertising company). Margaret Andersen has made a visit to the station and has arranged a tour for the team. In addition, we are provided a unique opportunity to serve by bringing audio supplies out to the station.
  • David Newkirk will be joining Bishop Silas for a two-night homestay. David’s opportunity and his willingness to do so is a great chance to build a special relationship between Silas and Church of the Open Door. Bishop Silas has a heart for the Nyamwezi and will be coming out to visit Church of the Open Door later this year.

I hope these small anecdotes provide a feeling of encouragement to you as you read them.

Many nights my husband and I are humbled as we reflect on what the Lord has allowed for us personally as we say “yes” to Him when it involves missions.

What a beautiful time for the people of Church of the Open Door to have a church with the heart and the trust to say “yes” to the Lord and make all of this possible!

Thank you so very much for your encouragement and prayers!

In His beautiful grace,

Kyleen Hughes
Tanzania Team Leader
