WorldReach 2021 is now in the books, but the free flow of encouragement we received from our missionaries this past week will stay with us!

Angela Shih shared how her elementary students in Hanoi, Vietnam, were caught up in hearing the story of Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection from her. (One little guy was so angry at hearing how Jesus had been mistreated that he punched someone!) All of them heard the gospel and a few actually trusted Jesus before moving on to the next grade.

Steve Quatro gave us a sneak preview of a documentary that his ministry (Eternity Sports) recently made. It included testimonies of multiple high profile athletes coming to Christ, including the bad boy of baseball, Daryl Strawberry. Steve led us in a time of prayer for those “bad boys” in our worlds by who need the transforming grace of the gospel – a very powerful time!

We Zoomed with Andy and Margaret Andersen, and heard about a Nyamwezi evangelist named Nsolezi. They trained him as he started several churches, and is now getting ordained to lead and disciple these new churches.

Ajay Pillai talked about thousands of church planters trained and sent to the darkest parts of India. His ministry cares for thousands of orphans, and shares the gospel in vast parts of South Asia. He mentioned the conversion of a Taliban fighter from Afghanistan. Ajay exhorted us to remain faithful to our missionary calling as a church. He said: It takes great courage to obey the great commission to make disciples of all nations! Courage is NOT the absence of fear, but the conviction that there is something more important than fear itself.Hallelujah for Church of the Open Door’s 106 years of missionary sending! Let’s remain faithful! We are on solid footing as we continue to send, and we rejoice in the free flow of grace from God through us to other people.

With missions joy,
