A few months ago a friend of mine started building a trail from our church driveway to the cross that overlooks the San Gabriel Valley. Through Steve Sidenfaden’s leadership and many other helpful hands, it is almost done!

It’s 1.2 miles to the top and about a 1000 foot elevation gain. The hardest part is the beginning—there is no way around it! But as you keep going there are parts of the trail that allow for you to get your breath back, and the views are spectacular!

In our discipleship to Christ Jesus, there are many areas that start this way. Financial stewardship is one of them. When we first begin to trust the Lord with our finances, we look around, trying to figure out how to bypass the immediate elevation gain.

As your shepherd, I encourage you (and myself!) to continue to move up the trail!

As partners in the ministry of Church of the Open Door, I want you to know that as we emerge from the pandemic, our income has not kept up with our projected budget. We are about $125,000 behind what is needed.

As always, we are trusting the Lord for His provision!

We also want to give you an opportunity to walk with us in the challenges (and breathtaking views!) of this stewardship “elevation gain.”

Here are some glimpses of how God is pouring out His Spirit on us and moving us forward together through your generous gifts:

  • Last week one of our young adults was able to lead her friend to faith in the Savior!
  • Recently we were able to introduce our new full-time worship pastor, Josh Kim.
  • Almost 200 of our people—and counting—are in discipleship relationships.
  • God continues to open up doors to see a reproducing church among the Nyamwezi.
  • All of our children’s and youth camps are gearing up and anticipating great movements of God’s Spirit this summer.

We are asking you to pray and consider what part you and your family may have in investing in this kingdom work of the Lord Jesus Christ! Your gift of any amount will make a difference.

Nancy and I so appreciate you!

Sincerely,

David Anderson
Lead Pastor

P.S. Come to campus. Move up the trail. Enjoy the views! And be encouraged! God is able to make all grace abound toward us . . . that we may have an abundance for every good work (2 Cor. 9:8).
