As a church family, we prayed this Breakthrough Prayer throughout 2020: Father, use us to build a reproducing church among an unreached people by 2030.
Here we sit early in 2021 and He has already spoken to us!
What a privilege and pure joy it is to know that the Lord has singled out the Nyamwezi people of Tanzania for Church of the Open Door to pursue in His name!
For me personally it is hard to contain the excitement!
I am encouraged to know our heart’s desire at COD is to reach the nations for Jesus Christ. He continues to encourage and bless us with opportunities to participate in His great commission.
As we lean into the remainder of the year, I look forward to continuing together as a body to boldly and confidently ask the Lord to move us in building a personal relationship with the Nyamwezi people.
To be able to share Christ’s love, we must be motivated by love. To love someone the way Jesus calls us to love can take time . . . and it requires a relationship, with a heart like Jesus.
So, to that end I have begun to ask the Lord – how do I pursue an active love for the Nyamwezi people right now with where You have me?
His response has been clear . . . PRAYER.
I (we!) have the privilege of taking part in praying for this beautiful unreached people group – the Nyamwezi.
To help us all take a step towards faithful prayer, we are holding a Nyamwezi Prayer Lunch on Sunday, March 28.
Would you come? Would you set apart this one hour to learn a little bit about the Nyamwezi people and pray for them with a few others?
Church of the Open Door family, I am excited to go on the journey with you in falling in love with the Nyamwezi people in the mighty name of the Lord Jesus Christ!
I truly know and believe all we have to do is ask!
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen! Ephesians 3:20-21
With love and anticipation,
Kyleen Hughes
Missions Team member
P.S. A little backstory for you . . . just over 5 years ago I was able to spend a few weeks in Tanzania assisting some of our missionaries (the Andersens!) get established in a new location. The photo in this blog shows me and other members of that team worshipping with some Tanzanian believers. How wonderful it will be to see the Lord add Nyamwezi worshippers to His family!
