When we are good historians of God’s faithfulness, we look back on our lives and clearly see unique opportunities that He has fashioned for His children to shine His love and grace. I believe we will look back on this time and realize that He has done that for us.

This morning our elders were able to talk and we prayerfully and unanimously feel that we should not gather for the next couple of weeks in order to comply with the local and state public health regulations about COVID-19, and to care for the most vulnerable in our communities.

Our campus will be closed to regular activities (including all Sunday morning classes, youth group & Live Wires) through the end of March in this effort to support community health.

For the next three Sundays (March 15, 22 and 29) we will be offering a virtual worship service. It will be available on our website (churchoftheopendoor.com) on Sunday mornings and I encourage you to worship with us in your homes and with your families in this way.

We are recommending that off campus small groups also not meet during these three weeks. If your group does decide to meet, we ask that you follow all the current guidelines regarding social distancing and hygiene. If you would like some ideas about ways for your group to stay connected in lieu of meeting face to face, please contact us at info@churchoftheopendoor.com.

Our children’s ministry and youth ministry leads are looking at creative ways to engage and encourage your kids and youth through this unusual season. Watch for more information to come.

It’s so important that we stay connected – thank you for forwarding this email to any of your COD friends who might not already receive it. We’d love for you to track with us on Instagram and Facebook as well.

We have been praying this year for the Lord to pour out His Spirit on us and move us forward together. As we continue praying this prayer during this season of great uncertainty, I am excited to see how He answers! I am looking forward to seeing how He uses us as His hands and feet in our neighborhoods and communities in special ways in these coming weeks.

Much love,

David Anderson
Lead Pastor

P.S. The Bible is full of Scripture about prayer and people who prayed to God with all their hearts and minds. Prayer is a huge part of our Christian walk – it is actively trusting and surrendering our lives to God. We are thinking through prayer opportunities for this season and will have more to share with you soon. For now, though, if there is any immediate way that we can pray for you, please let us know via our prayer request page on our website.
