From Lead Pastor David Anderson . . .
February 2017

Dear COD family,

I’m so thankful I get to shepherd a church that has always kept our missionaries, pastors and ministries on the front lines of the Gospel.

Our story as a community is a story of united sacrifice, clinging to His peace and provision . . . for 101 years! As a result, Jesus has shown Himself very powerful to this community and to its members.

And, He’ll continue to do so.

It is such a thrill to be a part of the story of worldwide impact through the ministries and missionaries of Church of the Open Door.

 As we give . . .

  • we are a part of that moment when Angela, our co-laborer in Vietnam, led one of her 2nd graders to Christ.
  • we help to make possible the gift of a complete meal for a family in need in our own community through our Care Ministry.
  • we are partnering with Becca McDougall, one of our missionaries to East Africa, as she introduces the free gift of eternal life in Christ Jesus to a family in her living room.
  • we are able to provide scholarships for some of our young people to be part of a life changing experience at one of our camps.
  • we get to launch Kris and Heather Hoffman into Spain to make disciples and invest in the next generation of missionaries.

As you and your family consider your part of the story, here’s an on-line discipleship tool called My Stewardship Response – I encourage you to use it as a prayer tool as you seek His direction about what to entrust God with in 2017.

As we trust the Lord together, we are praying that we will not have to cut salaries or ministry. Our Board of Elders is specifically asking us to pray God would bring in a total of $500,000 in this first quarter of the year, ending March 31.

As we consider all of this, here are two spectacular promises Paul shares with the stewards in the little church in Philippi — to those who entrust themselves and their finances to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, Paul says…

  1. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13)
  1. And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:19)

Our church leadership team is claiming these promises as we entrust our finances to our reliable and strong Heavenly Father. We are asking Christ to strengthen us and we rest in knowing that He will supply all of our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Thank you for being a part of the story!

P.S. Your giving is such a provision for our missionaries, and this coming week we’ll be starting our annual missions focus, WorldReach 2017.  Take a look at what’s happening starting Sunday . . . there’s a Missions Throwdown after the service, great food provided by our Spanish Ministry and the opportunity to learn about our missionaries and their countries of service!
