Senior Ministries

This group offers opportunities for mature adults to enjoy fellowship and grow in Christ through reaching out to mature adults in the community and leading them to faith in Jesus Christ as Savior, delighting in good Christian fellowship, majoring in JOY, and providing practical opportunities for Christian service. Growing older doesn’t have to mean retiring to your rocking chair and watching TV all day. We offer a few alternatives here at COD.

“A Man Called Peter”
Saturday, July 7 @ 1pm in the Worship Center

Our Friendship Class is hosting the showing of this inspirational movie based on the life of preacher Peter Marshall. Marshall was a chaplain of the US Senate and pastor of New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington DC before his early death.

They invite you to come, bring a friend and enjoy popcorn, drinks and the fellowship. For more information, contact info@churchoftheopendoor.com.

 Prime Time Lunches

These luncheons take place the second Thursday of each month from 11:30am – 1:30pm in the Hillside Room of the White House.

Outstanding speakers and musicians are featured. The food is catered and delicious ($5 per person donation); singing is vibrant; fellowship is sweet!

Quarterly Outings

Once a quarter we take a trip to one of the many interesting places in Southern California, like the Getty Museum or Oak Glen apple farms.

Since we all like to eat, there is usually a meal involved. It’s a great way to get to know others in the group and enjoy the destination!

Hiking Buddies

This is a group of old guys (and some not so old) who enjoy hiking and exploring in and around the San Gabriel Valley on Friday mornings. They end their hike with breakfast at a nearby restaurant—after all, they have burned a few calories. On occasion, they include any ladies who would like to go along.

If you’re interested, call Dick Dixon at 626-222-2555.
