Tecate 2017

From July 2-7 David Newkirk and team will lead about 20 young people from our student ministry in a time of service and outreach with our sister church in Tecate, Mexico, Casa de Dios
The days will be spent sharing God’s Word, having a ton of fun with about 65 kids each day at Vacation Bible School, enjoying times of rich worship and fellowship with a committed congregation, and getting into the Word.
As you think of this team, please pray for the following:
Lord, please…
… help them share the gospel clearly in words and action – give them “divine encounters” with those who need Jesus.

…give them confidence to speak with, serve and love on the children who come to the VBA at the Casa de Dios.

…give them eyes to see what their hosts (Pastor Leon and his family) need and have wisdom and ability to adjust and serve with joy.

…build the team’s unity – let their words build up and not tear down.

…give them safety in all their comings and goings.

Missionary Care Trips

Minister to our COD missionaries as they gather at their organizational missionary conferences. We have been invited multiple times to provide services like Bible teaching, worship leading and children’s programs (Vacation Bible School) at these conferences in places where our missionaries serve (such as Kenya, Tanzania and Vietnam).
ECUADOR TEAM – July 2017
This team of 10 from our church family is excited to serve COD missionaries Jose and Janeen Gutierrez (and their colleagues) in Loja, Ecuador this summer by running a VBA for missionary kids from July 26 – August 6.

They are excited about this opportunity because:
…of a love for Latin American people, a love for children, and to serve the team. (Pam Wade)
…I am called to be a missionary. So this will be my first missions trip other than VBA and IDRAFOJE. (Emma Osborn)

Please join us in praying for this team:
Pray for all the details that need to come together during these next few weeks before departure.
Pray for two members on the team who are asking for full health before they leave.
Pray for mercies as they travel, for health and strength for each day and for spirit-empowered unity on the team.
Pray for the hearts of the 20 missionary kids during their VBA time – to understand the many implications of the victory Christ won for them and to run the race (of this life) for Jesus.
Pray for the children’s outreach this team will be helping launch in Jose and Janeen’s neighborhood – for many parents to let their kids come to this unique chance to know and grow in Christ.
Pray for deep lessons of the heart from the Lord Jesus through this trip for each person on the team.

Mexico Outreach

Wes and Pam Wade have been ministering to communities in Mexico for over 10 years. They go one Saturday per month and are excited to invite others to join them for an impactful day of service and outreach.
What to Expect
We leave Glendora at 8:00am and stop once on the US side before crossing the border in Tijuana. We spend the afternoon doing outreach, and then return back home by midnight. Areas of Service include meal preparation, meal service, sharing the Gospel, playing games with local children, and team outreach to the community.
Here’s what one COD member says about her experience serving with this ministry:
Serving with Wes and Pam in the Mexico ministry is an experience that has touched my heart and has given me a desire to help those who are in a hopeless situation. I’ve seen very poor families living in the dumps, gathering recyclables from the trash for income. To provide food and toiletries items for them, but most of all the Word of God, gives these precious people a ray of hope. To see a smile on faces from people stripped of their existence brings tears to your eyes. These people need to know Jesus loves them even if no one else does. They need to feel valued so that they may know to struggle on for the better regardless of the circumstance, but most of all they need to know that Jesus loves them and so do people like me and you. Wes and Pam’s Mexico ministry has helped many, but they can spread the Word of God to many more people with your help. Give hope, give Jesus.
