Mexico Outreach

Wes and Pam Wade have been ministering to communities in Mexico for over 10 years. They go one Saturday per month and are excited to invite others to join them for an impactful day of service and outreach.

What to Expect
We leave Glendora at 8:00am and stop once on the US side before crossing the border in Tijuana. We spend the afternoon doing outreach, and then return back home by midnight. Areas of Service include meal preparation, meal service, sharing the Gospel, playing games with local children, and team outreach to the community.

Here’s what one COD member says about her experience serving with this ministry:

Serving with Wes and Pam in the Mexico ministry is an experience that has touched my heart and has given me a desire to help those who are in a hopeless situation. I’ve seen very poor families living in the dumps, gathering recyclables from the trash for income. To provide food and toiletries items for them, but most of all the Word of God, gives these precious people a ray of hope. To see a smile on faces from people stripped of their existence brings tears to your eyes. These people need to know Jesus loves them even if no one else does. They need to feel valued so that they may know to struggle on for the better regardless of the circumstance, but most of all they need to know that Jesus loves them and so do people like me and you. Wes and Pam’s Mexico ministry has helped many, but they can spread the Word of God to many more people with your help. Give hope, give Jesus.

Missionary Care Trips

Minister to our COD missionaries as they gather at their organizational missionary conferences. We have been invited multiple times to provide services like Bible teaching, worship leading and children’s programs (Vacation Bible School) at these conferences in places where our missionaries serve (such as Kenya, Tanzania and Vietnam).

ECUADOR TEAM – July 2017

This team of 10 from our church family is excited to serve COD missionaries Jose and Janeen Gutierrez (and their colleagues) in Loja, Ecuador this summer by running a VBA for missionary kids from July 26 – August 6.

They are excited about this opportunity because:
…of a love for Latin American people, a love for children, and to serve the team. (Pam Wade)
…I am called to be a missionary. So this will be my first missions trip other than VBA and IDRAFOJE. (Emma Osborn)

AFRICA TEAM – October 2016
Last fall a team traveled to Africa to support a missionary conference that our own Colin and Becca McDougall and Andy and Margaret Andersen (see above photo) were attending.

Here are some stories of how the Lord used this team to minister . . .

From Miriam, a missionary mom: I just want to add personally what a blessing your team was for my daughter back in October at the AIM Tanzania Conference.  I felt like she came with questions that she was thinking through, and members of the team just got alongside her and really invested the time to listen and answer her.  She received some discipleship as well as teaching and fun, which blessed me.

From Alberto J. Negron, member of the Africa Team: Everyone who has believed in Christ can reach out. Everyone who has journeyed with Christ has a story to tell.

I was a first time short term missions participant, but I had a story that started at least 36 years ago or more.  Michael, Rachel, Janet, Kim, Kyleen, Dave and I – we all had a story. Jesus had been writing all our stories since God knows when (true story), but now we had a chance to be the writing instrument in others’ lives.

I heard about triumph, pain, loss and perseverance and I am richer for it.  I learned to sympathize and empathize with people that I knew and others unknown. I am richer. God has been glorified. God’s people have been served and the stories continue.

You have a story. There are people waiting to hear where Jesus brought you from and where he is taking you. People that need to hear from him and you. You can bring God glory because that is what He’s planned for you. He kept His promise to send us and He kept His promise to be with His people to the end of the earth through us. He can do the same with you. True story.

“Grace is the face love wears when it meets imperfect.”

Tecate 2016

From July 3 – 8 David Newkirk, Kris Hoffman, Kyleen Hughes and Dave Schaller led about 20 young people from our student ministry in a time of service and outreach with our sister church in Tecate, Mexico, Casa de Dios. The days were spent sharing God’s word and having a ton of fun with about 65 kids each day at Vacation Bible School, helping their pastor (Chuy Leon) build a house for one of his key leaders, enjoying times of rich worship and fellowship with a committed congregation and getting into the Word ourselves as we took a deeper look at the book of Galatians.

A real highlight was seeing about 20 kids trust Christ for the first time after the gospel was presented on the third day. What a joy to see this church sold-out to the gospel of grace! Thanks for being a part of what God is continuing to do in Tecate, Mexico through your prayers!
