From Lead Pastor David Anderson . . .
Dear Church of the Open Door family,

Jesus tells us to expect to joyfully receive what we pray for.

We have a generous Heavenly Father who loves to give good gifts to those who ask Him! Let me say it again: We have a generous Heavenly Father who loves to give good gifts to those who ask Him!

Church of the Open Door is convinced of this promise and believes that God always moves ministry forward through prayer. Here are the 5 Breakthrough Prayers that God has laid on the hearts of our elders and staff for 2017:

  1. Father, please keep us one.
  2. Father, please help us worship You in spirit and truth.
  3. Father, please add 40 partners to our Sunday morning children’s ministry.
  4. Father, please move 40 of us to lead Gospel of John groups.
  5. Father, give all of us the joy of regular giving and retire the Worship Center mortgage.

When Jesus taught us to pray in the Upper Room Discourse in the Gospel of John, His expectation was that we would dwell intimately with Him, seeking His will and that we would ask Him for what we need:

13 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14)

7 If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you. 8 My Father is honored by this, that you bear much fruit and show that you are my disciples. (John 15:7-8)

23 At that time you will ask me nothing. I tell you the solemn truth, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. 24 Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive it, so that your joy may be complete. (John 16:23-24)

Jesus’ frustration was with His disciples’ lack of asking. Jesus says, “You are not asking. Ask and I will provide. Ask and your joy will be full!”

I’d love for you to join us in “childlike faith and neediness” in asking God to move in supernatural and spectacular ways in our hearts and community this year!

Much love,

David Anderson
